Description
This homemade cheese steak hamburger helper combines ground beef, pasta, and melty cheese in one skillet. A creamy, comforting dinner ready in just 30 minutes.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef
1 cup chopped onion
1 cup diced bell peppers (any color)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp olive oil
2 cups beef broth
1 (8 oz) box pasta shells or elbow macaroni
½ cup heavy cream or half-and-half
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp steak seasoning (or mix of salt, black pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika)
Optional garnish: chopped parsley or green onions
Instructions
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onions and bell peppers, sauté 3–4 minutes. Add garlic, cook 30 seconds.
Add ground beef, season with steak seasoning, and cook until browned (6–8 minutes). Drain excess fat if needed.
Stir in pasta, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and heavy cream. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender.
Remove from heat, stir in mozzarella and cheddar cheese until melted and creamy.
Garnish with parsley or green onions, and serve warm.
Notes
Substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
Add mushrooms or spinach for extra veggies.
Use provolone or pepper jack for a flavor twist.
