Description

Festive, pull-apart Christmas tree bread made with pizza dough, gooey mozzarella, garlic butter, and herbs. A fun holiday appetizer everyone loves.

Ingredients

13 oz canned refrigerated pizza dough

Parchment paper (for baking sheet)

67 mozzarella cheese sticks (cut into 30 bite-sized pieces)

1 large egg + 1 tbsp water (for egg wash)

3 tbsp butter, melted

1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese, divided

1 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped

1/2 tbsp fresh rosemary, finely chopped

1/2 tbsp fresh basil, finely chopped

1 garlic clove, grated

1 jar marinara and/or pesto (for dipping)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Cut the pizza dough into 30 even squares.

Cut mozzarella cheese sticks into 30 small, 1-inch pieces.

Place one piece of cheese in each dough square and roll into a smooth ball, sealing the edges.

Arrange the dough balls seam-side down on the baking sheet in the shape of a Christmas tree, ensuring they are touching.

In a small bowl, whisk the egg with water and brush the egg wash lightly over each dough ball.

Bake for 16–18 minutes or until golden brown.

While baking, melt butter and mix in half of the parmesan, along with grated garlic and all chopped herbs.

Brush the baked bread with the garlic herb butter and sprinkle with the remaining parmesan.

Serve immediately with warm marinara and/or pesto for dipping.

Notes

Use kitchen scissors or a pizza cutter for quick dough cutting.

For a stronger herb flavor, you can add a pinch of Italian seasoning to the butter.

Serve directly from the tray or transfer carefully to a festive platter for presentation.

Can be prepped ahead and baked fresh just before serving.
