Description
A bold mashup of two comfort food favorites – saucy spaghetti and cheesy sloppy joes come together in one irresistible sandwich.
Ingredients
1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
1/2 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup marinara or spaghetti sauce
1 tbsp tomato paste (optional, for richness)
1 tsp Italian seasoning
Salt and pepper, to taste
4 oz spaghetti, broken in half
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
4 hamburger buns or sandwich rolls
Optional: butter for toasting buns
Instructions
Cook the pasta: Boil spaghetti in salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and onion until browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat.
Stir in garlic, Italian seasoning, tomato paste, and spaghetti sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes.
Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet and toss to coat in the meat sauce.
Stir in mozzarella and Parmesan cheese until melted and creamy.
Toast buns lightly in a pan or under the broiler with butter (optional).
Spoon the cheesy spaghetti sloppy joe mixture onto each bun and serve immediately.
Notes
Swap spaghetti for rotini or elbow macaroni for easier scooping.
Add red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
Use garlic bread buns for even more flavor!
