Description

These soft, bakery-style sugar cookies are swirled with a rich cinnamon-brown sugar filling for the perfect holiday-inspired treat.

Ingredients

For the Cinnamon Filling:

Softened unsalted butter

Brown sugar

All-purpose flour

Ground cinnamon

Pinch of salt

For the Sugar Cookie Dough:

Unsalted butter

Granulated sugar

Eggs

Vanilla extract

All-purpose flour

Baking powder

Salt

Instructions

Make Cinnamon Filling: Mix softened butter, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Freeze until firm.

Prepare Cookie Dough: Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla. Mix in flour, baking powder, and salt to form dough.

Assemble Dough: Press half the cookie dough into the bottom of the mixing bowl. Scatter chilled cinnamon filling over it. Top with remaining dough and more cinnamon filling.

Create Swirls: Gently fold the dough with a spatula to swirl cinnamon throughout—don’t overmix.

Portion & Chill: Scoop into 2-tablespoon dough balls. Freeze for 10 minutes.

Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are set and centers look slightly underbaked.

Shape: Use a round cookie cutter or glass to gently reshape cookies right after baking for a clean look.

Notes

Add a simple powdered sugar glaze after cooling for extra sweetness.

Optional add-ins: chopped pecans, walnuts, raisins, or mini chocolate chips.

Enhance flavor with a pinch of nutmeg or cardamom.

Don’t overbake—cookies will firm up as they cool.
