Description

These crispy mozzarella sticks are golden on the outside, melty on the inside, and perfect for dipping into marinara or creamy sauce.


Ingredients

For the Mozzarella Sticks:

1 lb mozzarella cheese, cut into 1-inch sticks

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

2 tbsp milk

½ cup plain panko breadcrumbs

½ cup plain regular breadcrumbs

¼ tsp garlic powder

¼ tsp salt

¼ tsp black pepper

¼ tsp dried oregano

Vegetable oil, for frying

For the Marinara Sauce:

1 cup canned crushed tomatoes

1 tbsp olive oil

1 garlic clove, minced

½ tsp dried basil

¼ tsp salt

¼ tsp sugar

For the Creamy Dip:

½ cup sour cream

¼ cup mayonnaise

1 tbsp lemon juice

¼ tsp onion powder

Salt and pepper, to taste


Instructions

Arrange mozzarella sticks on a parchment-lined tray and freeze for at least 1 hour.

Set up breading station:

Bowl 1: flour

Bowl 2: eggs + milk, whisked

Bowl 3: panko, regular breadcrumbs, garlic powder, salt, pepper, oregano

Dip each frozen cheese stick in flour → egg → breadcrumbs. For extra crunch, repeat egg and breadcrumb steps.

Freeze breaded sticks for another 30 minutes.

Heat oil in a skillet to 350°F (175°C). Fry in batches for 1–2 minutes until golden. Drain on paper towels.

Marinara: Sauté garlic in olive oil. Add tomatoes, basil, salt, and sugar. Simmer 10 minutes.

Creamy dip: Mix sour cream, mayo, lemon juice, onion powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.

Serve mozzarella sticks hot with both dips.

Cheese options: Try string cheese, provolone, or pepper jack.

Breadcrumb tip: Add Parmesan or use seasoned crumbs for extra flavor.

Dip variations: Try pesto, ranch, spicy aioli, or blue cheese dip.

Air fryer method: Cook at 375°F for 6–8 minutes, flipping halfway.
