Description

This irresistible cracker toffee is a festive favorite with buttery toffee, melted chocolate, and sprinkles. Perfect for gifting or holiday snacking

Ingredients

30 saltine crackers (or enough to cover a 15” x 10” pan; gluten-free options work too)

1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)

1 cup packed light brown sugar (dark brown can be substituted)

1½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (milk or dark chocolate optional)

2 tablespoons holiday sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C) and line a 15” x 10” baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone mat.

Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer covering the entire pan.

In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly.

Bring to a boil and continue boiling for 2–3 minutes (or until it reaches 270–290°F).

Immediately pour the toffee mixture over crackers and spread evenly.

Bake for 5 minutes.

Remove from oven, sprinkle chocolate chips on top, and let them melt for a few minutes.

Spread melted chocolate evenly; add sprinkles or desired toppings.

Let cool completely (at least 15 minutes), then break or cut into pieces.

Notes

For added crunch, top with chopped nuts like pecans or almonds.

Crushed candy canes or caramel drizzle can offer festive and flavorful variations.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week, refrigerated for 2 weeks, or frozen for 3 months.
