French onion beef and noodles recipe made in one pan with savory ground beef, tender egg noodles, and rich onion broth for a cozy family dinner.
Ingredients
Ground Beef Mixture
1 lb ground beef
1 tbsp olive oil
1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
Broth & Noodles
1 (10.5 oz) can condensed French onion soup
1 (10.5 oz) can beef consommé or beef broth
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
½ tsp dried thyme
8 oz egg noodles
Additional
½ cup sour cream
Salt and pepper, to taste
Chopped parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Cook Beef & Onions
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook until soft and lightly golden. Stir in garlic and ground beef; cook until beef is browned. Drain excess grease if needed.
Simmer
Add French onion soup, beef consommé, Worcestershire sauce, and dried thyme. Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer.
Add Noodles
Stir in egg noodles. Cover and cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until noodles are tender.
Finish & Serve
Remove skillet from heat. Stir in sour cream until creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with parsley if desired and serve warm.
Notes
For extra richness, add a splash of heavy cream along with the sour cream.
Ground turkey or chicken works well for a lighter variation.
Serve with crusty bread or a fresh green salad for a complete meal.
