Description
This cozy one-pot meal combines ground beef, egg noodles, and French onion soup for a rich, savory dinner that’s easy, creamy, and full of comfort.
Ingredients
Ground Beef Mixture
1 lb ground beef
1 tbsp olive oil
1 medium yellow onion, thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
Broth and Noodles
1 (10.5 oz) can condensed French onion soup
1 (10.5 oz) can beef consommé or beef broth
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
½ tsp dried thyme
8 oz egg noodles
Finishing Touches
½ cup sour cream
Salt and pepper, to taste
Chopped parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Cook the Aromatics: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook until soft and golden, about 5–6 minutes.
Add Beef and Garlic: Stir in minced garlic and ground beef. Cook until beef is browned and no longer pink. Drain excess grease if necessary.
Simmer the Broth: Add French onion soup, beef consommé, Worcestershire sauce, and thyme. Stir well and bring to a simmer.
Cook the Noodles: Add egg noodles to the skillet. Cover and cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until noodles are tender.
Creamy Finish: Remove from heat. Stir in sour cream until well combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve: Garnish with fresh chopped parsley if desired. Serve hot.
Notes
For a richer flavor, add a splash of heavy cream along with the sour cream.
Ground turkey or chicken can be used instead of beef for a lighter version.
Delicious paired with crusty bread or a simple green salad.
Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated the next day—great for meal prep!
