Description
A quick and savory stir fry made with tender broccoli and flavorful ground beef tossed in a delicious garlic-soy sauce.
Ingredients
1 lb (450g) ground beef
4 cups broccoli florets
1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for cooking)
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated (optional)
1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional for extra depth)
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/2 cup water or beef broth
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Cooked rice, for serving
Sesame seeds and chopped green onions (for garnish)
Instructions
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, water, and sesame oil. Set aside.
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks (about 5-6 minutes). Drain excess fat if needed.
Add garlic and ginger (if using), and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
Add broccoli florets to the pan and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes.
Pour in the sauce mixture and toss to coat evenly.
Cover the skillet and simmer for 4-5 minutes, or until broccoli is tender-crisp and the sauce has thickened.
Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve over rice, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions.
Notes
For extra flavor, marinate the beef briefly in a tablespoon of soy sauce before cooking.
Frozen broccoli can be used—just thaw and pat dry first.
Add bell peppers, carrots, or snap peas for extra color and crunch.
Make it spicy by increasing the red pepper flakes or adding sriracha.
