3/4 cup vegetable oil
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk
2 large eggs
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
4 cups all-purpose flour
(Optional – if you have a frosting or toppings section, you could add it here too)
For Halloween Frosting & Decorations (optional but recommended):
1/2 cup butter, softened
2–3 cups powdered sugar
1–2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Food coloring (orange, purple, green)
Halloween sprinkles or candy eyes
Instructions
Preheat & Prep:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or spray with nonstick spray.
Make the Cookie Dough:
In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, vegetable oil, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
Mix in milk and eggs, beating until smooth.
Add baking powder, cream of tartar, and salt. Gradually mix in flour until fully combined and a soft dough forms.
Bake the Bars:
Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan.
Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until the edges are just starting to turn golden and the center is set.
Do not overbake. Let cool completely before frosting.
Frost & Decorate (Optional):
In a bowl, beat softened butter with powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until a fluffy frosting forms.
Tint with Halloween-themed food coloring and spread over cooled cookie bars.
Add festive sprinkles, candy eyes, or spooky decorations.
Cut & Serve:
Slice into squares or rectangles. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days.
Notes
Make Ahead Tip: Cookie bars can be baked a day in advance and frosted later.
Customization: Switch up the sprinkle colors and frosting shades for different holidays (e.g. red and green for Christmas).
Thickness: For thicker bars, bake in a smaller pan (like 9×9-inch) and adjust the baking time.
