Description

A unique twist on the classic grilled cheese, this honey banana grilled cheese combines melted cheddar cheese, fresh banana slices, and a touch of honey for the perfect balance of sweet and savory.


Ingredients

4 slices of bread (white or whole wheat)

1 ripe banana, sliced

2 tablespoons honey

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite melting cheese)

2 tablespoons butter, softened


Instructions

Spread softened butter on one side of each bread slice.

Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place two slices of bread, butter-side down, in the skillet.

Layer half of the shredded cheese evenly over the bread, add banana slices, then drizzle with honey. Top with remaining cheese.

Place the second slice of bread on top, butter-side up.

Cook 2–3 minutes per side, pressing gently with a spatula, until bread is golden and cheese melted.

Remove sandwiches, slice in half, and drizzle with extra honey if desired.

 

Notes

Try swapping cheddar for brie, goat cheese, or Gruyère for different flavors.

Add peanut butter or almond butter for a nutty twist.

Sprinkle crushed walnuts or pecans on the banana for crunch.

Substitute bread with a tortilla for a grilled cheese quesadilla variation.
