Description

These soft and chewy cookies are filled with gooey caramel bits and finished with a sprinkle of sea salt for the perfect sweet and salty treat.


Ingredients

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 tsp baking powder

½ tsp baking soda

½ tsp salt

⅓ cup unsalted butter, softened

½ cup granulated sugar

½ cup brown sugar, packed

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

½ cup caramel bits or chopped soft caramel candies

Flaky sea salt, for sprinkling


Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In another bowl, cream butter and sugars until fluffy (2–3 minutes).

Beat in egg and vanilla until combined.

Gradually stir in dry ingredients, then fold in caramel bits.

Shape dough into 1½-inch balls and place on baking sheets.

Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are golden.

Sprinkle with sea salt immediately after baking.

Cool on sheet 5 minutes, then transfer to wire rack.

Notes

Chill dough for 15 minutes if too soft.

Add chocolate chips or chopped nuts for variation.

Use pre-made caramel chips for convenience.
