Description

These warm, gooey cookie bars use cake mix and chocolate chips for the easiest dessert ever—perfect for lazy baking days or sweet cravings.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

1 stick (8 tablespoons) unsalted butter, melted

2 large eggs

1 box (15.25 ounces) yellow cake mix

1 bag (12 ounces) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Optional Ingredients

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.

In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter in 30-second intervals. Let it cool slightly.

Whisk in the eggs until fully combined. Add vanilla extract if using.

Stir in the yellow cake mix until a thick dough forms.

Fold in the chocolate chips (and salt, if using) until evenly mixed.

Spread the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan. Smooth the top.

Bake for 20–23 minutes, or until edges are golden and the center is just set.

For thicker bars using a smaller pan, bake 25–28 minutes.

Let cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes before slicing into 20 bars.

Serve warm and gooey or fully cooled.

Notes

Allow melted butter to cool slightly before adding eggs to avoid scrambling.

Do not overbake — the center should look just set for soft, chewy bars.

Optional: Add chopped nuts, white chocolate chips, or a drizzle of caramel after baking for extra indulgence.
