Description
This soft and moist apple bread swirled with cinnamon sugar and topped with a sweet glaze makes the perfect fall treat or cozy snack.
Ingredients
For the Batter:
1½ cups all-purpose flour
1½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
½ cup granulated sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 large eggs
½ cup milk
Apple Swirl:
½ cup packed light brown sugar
1½ tsp ground cinnamon
1 large apple, peeled and finely chopped
Topping:
2 tbsp brown sugar
¼ tsp ground cinnamon
Glaze:
¾ cup confectioners’ sugar
¼ tsp ground cinnamon
2 tbsp water
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8.5×4.5-inch loaf pan.
In a medium bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
In a large bowl, cream butter, granulated sugar, and vanilla until fluffy (3–4 mins).
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
On low speed, alternate adding flour mixture and milk until just combined.
In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped apple for the swirl.
In a small dish, combine topping ingredients.
Pour half the batter into the pan, layer half the apple swirl, and gently swirl with a skewer.
Repeat with remaining batter and swirl mix. Sprinkle topping over the loaf.
Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
Cool in pan for 15–20 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Whisk glaze ingredients and drizzle over warm loaf. Let cool completely before slicing.
Notes
Don’t overmix the batter to keep the texture tender.
Use firm apple varieties like Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Granny Smith.
