Description

The BEST southern-style biscuits and gravy made with flaky buttermilk biscuits and rich, creamy sausage gravy. A quick, comforting breakfast in just 15 minutes!

Ingredients

8 Flakey Buttermilk Biscuits

1 pound pork sausage

2 Tablespoons + 1 teaspoon all-purpose flour (18 g)

2 1/2 cups half and half (600 ml)

1 Tablespoon butter (14 g)

1/8 teaspoon dried thyme (0.25 g)

1/8 teaspoon dried crushed rosemary (0.25 g)

1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (0.25 g)

Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

Brown sausage in a large saucepan over medium heat.

Blot out most of the grease with a paper towel.

Add flour, butter, and half & half to the pan. Cook on medium-low, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens.

Stir in thyme, rosemary, red pepper flakes, and black pepper.

Serve the hot sausage gravy over warm, flaky buttermilk biscuits.

Notes

Make Ahead: Gravy can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for 2–3 days. Reheat with a splash of milk or half and half and adjust seasoning.

Freezing Tips: Use whole milk if planning to freeze the gravy for better texture. Thaw overnight and reheat gently, adding milk as needed.

Biscuits Storage: Biscuits can be frozen for 3–5 months.

Variation: Try making it into a Biscuits and Gravy Casserole for a fun twist!
